An Informal Case Study: Exploring emotional empowerment through the lens of the chakra-neurology connection
A recent client of mine was ready to work on individuating from the emotional experiences of her close family members. She felt disempowered by the emotional 'weather' of the people in her life. Though the experience of co-dependence within this realm was particularly noticeable for her within her relationship with her husband and eldest son, she also experienced versions of the same relational pattern with other people in her life. This lead to her to over focus on others and she felt that her own emotional landscape was altered very quickly by the emotions of these people in her life. In other words, when they got upset, were stressed or grumpy it had a big impact on her own sense of wellbeing and she felt overly responsible for the people in her life. She wanted to be able to be around others without being so badly affected by their moods.
The approach in Neurological Kinesiology is to discover what aspects of the client’s energetic system and nervous system are imbalanced by the presenting issue, bring these to consciousness, explore them, discuss them where beneficial, and then use energetic healing techniques to resolve and rebalance what the body and soul are ready to change. To do this the kinesiologist monitors specific muscles and uses specially tailored acupressure processes.
While working together we identified an energetic pattern in an area of her brain called the her anterior cingulate gyrus that was interacting with other areas of her limbic system and brainstem to create particular affects on her internal emotional weather as well as her autonomic nervous system. The energy in this brain area was responding to the experience of other people’s emotional states with a particular pattern of emotional and energetic responses.
The pattern that became clear was that in situations in which she detected disharmony or uncomfortable emotions in those around her she would withdraw into herself energetically, her personal solar plexus expression of self, collapsing and drawing inward, ‘like a little mouse’ was how she described the sensation. Discussing how this pattern of emotional co-dependence came to be developed in the software of her limbic system through early family experiences allowed her to reflect on when in her life she had learned this reaction to social interaction and who in her early life had taught her that it was more important to look out for others’ emotions than to be emotionally present with herself. This discussion helped her understand her own history and the effect that these past experiences were having on her present experience around other people’s emotions.
While she had developed to a stage in her adult life in which she was aware of her desire to more fully be herself and less affected by other people’s emotions, her early experiences of criticism and dominating personalities had created the tendency within her energetic system to pull inward at the wheel of the solar plexus. In order for her to develop a stronger sense of self and individualise from other people’s emotions she needed to balance and vitalize the energy of this chakra.
To help with this energetic and emotional shift her body indicated that a particular flower essence would be helpful. What showed for her was the Donkey Orchid, which is a flower native to Western Australia. This came through as resonating information-energy in correlation to the relationship between her anterior cingulate gyrus and long term memory processing areas. This flower gave us information about experiences of blaming, resentment and feeling wronged. In it’s healthy aspect this flower heals these tendencies and resonates with feelings of healthy detachment, peace, positivity, release and the building of trust. It also helps to invoke life affirming positivity and build inner resolution. With these natural qualities the Donkey Orchid is perfectly suited to build and strengthen solar plexus chakra flows.
Including this flower essence and the affirmational information about it in the session provided for an energetic adjustment to the solar plexus which then allowed for release from other people’s behaviours and emotional states. In this way the flower essence is applied to the presenting issue and energetic imbalances which allows shifts in the energetic-neurology of the limbic system patterning, specifically the cingulate gyrus, in this case as well as rebalancing the power distribution within the solar plexus chakra energies.
When this detachment, inspired by the Donkey Orchid is achieved my client’s energetic boundaries will naturally remain stable. This allows her to remain more present with her own emotional state rather than feeling polluted by the emotions of people in her environment. With these improved chakra conditions she can release any feelings of being wronged or the victim of other people’s psychological states which is also related to the Donkey Orchid flower and have the energetic vitality to maintain a sense of mellowness as well as the ability to take responsibility for creating a better tomorrow. Thus, experiencing more peace and positivity in her emotional brain even when she is with her family and friends.
It is my sincere intention that these positive shifts in her energetic body and limbic system will allow her to release the feelings of distrust in her relationships, feel more empowered to react differently to others, due to her solar plexus chakra’s ability to maintain healthy emotional and energetic boundaries. Through this kinesiology session she has learned so deeply about herself as a whole human being both energetically, emotionally and about her own history and internal learning in response to past experiences. This will provide her with more choice in future situations as her nervous system will feel calmer which gives her the ability to make new choices as to how she interacts with others. I am grateful to those who have read this far and shared this little kinesiology journey with me. I wish you all the best, be kind to yourself whenever you can, and you always can.
